Appetito Craft Pizza & Wine Bar runs happy hour from 3 to 6 pm, and the two numbers to remember are $6 for a draft beer and $15 for a wood-fired margherita. We set the current happy hour menu next to the restaurant’s regular menu, and the pizzas come down $7 to $9 each. We have eaten here twice, in 2018 and 2019, and it was the pizza that brought us back the second year. There is one catch for people who like to carry dinner back to the room, and we are those people: the happy hour prices are for dining in only.
The window and the rules
All of this comes from the restaurant’s happy hour page and the hours block on its homepage, checked October 2026.
| Hours | |
|---|---|
| Breakfast | 6:00-10:00 am |
| Lunch | 11:00 am-1:30 pm |
| Happy hour | 3:00-6:00 pm |
| Dinner | 3:00-9:00 pm (last seating 8:45, last call 9:00) |
The happy hour page lists 3:00 to 6:00 pm without naming days. The hours block around it says “Open Daily” and lists no days off for happy hour, so we read it as every day, but that is our reading, not a line the restaurant wrote. Happy hour is simply the first three hours of dinner service. Nothing closes at 6, and the regular menu keeps going.
Two things are worth knowing before you walk over. First, there is a gap between lunch ending at 1:30 and dinner starting at 3, so this is a 3 o’clock place, not a 2 o’clock one. Second, the page ends with this line: “Happy hour pricing available for dine in only.” The site has an online ordering button, but the discount is for a table.
What it costs, and what it saves
There is no “half off everything” here. Each item simply has its own happy hour price. Drinks first:
| Drink | Happy hour price |
|---|---|
| Draft beer (Longboard Lager, Kona Big Wave, Kona Bay IPA, Maui Bikini Blonde, Peroni, Michelob Ultra, Asahi, seasonal) | $6 |
| Wine (prosecco, sparkling rosé, rosé, pinot grigio, sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, pinot noir, merlot, cabernet) | $8 glass / $35 bottle |
| Appetito cocktails (sangria, limoncello lemon drop, Blue Hawaiian, Manhattan Rocks, mai tai) | $11 |
The regular menu on the site lists food only, so we cannot tell you how much the drinks normally cost. The food we can compare line by line:
| Item | Happy hour | Regular menu | You save |
|---|---|---|---|
| Italian Salami pizza | $16 | $25 | $9 |
| Margherita pizza | $15 | $22 | $7 |
| Boquerones pizza (white anchovy) | $17 | $24 | $7 |
| Spicy Meatball (Naomi’s Spicy Meatballs on the regular menu) | $12 | $19 | $7 |
| Portobello Fries | $12 | $17 | $5 |
| Gnocchi alla Gorgonzola | $12 | $17 | $5 |
| Grilled Shishito Peppers | $8 | $13 | $5 |
| Tuscan Hummus | $8 | $13 | $5 |
| Eggplant Caponata | $14 | $17 | $3 |
All prices are menu prices from the restaurant’s site as of October 2026, before tax and tip.
Here’s a two-person order that looks about right to us: one margherita, the shishito peppers and the meatballs. That’s $15 + $8 + $12 = $35 at happy hour, against $22 + $13 + $19 = $54 off the regular menu. The $19 difference covers three of the $6 drafts, with a dollar left over.
Our two visits
The first time was a May afternoon in 2018, starting with happy hour beer. We ordered the margherita, which had a chewy, slightly charred crust, and the spicy meatballs. The meatballs were the surprise. They come in a skillet in a green-curry tomato sauce that sounds odd for an Italian place and worked with both beer and wine. Portobello fries came too.

We went back in June 2019, a little before 5 pm, and ordered the salami pizza (a bit salty, with a crust that was crisp outside and soft inside), crispy fried chicken, garlic cheese bites and grilled shishitos. The shishitos were mild enough that we added parmesan from the table, and every so often one was very hot. Drinks were beer and wine.

That 2019 happy hour menu, which we photographed, said “Daily 2pm-6pm.” So it started an hour earlier than it does now. Here’s the same menu against the one posted today:

| Item | June 2019 happy hour | October 2026 happy hour |
|---|---|---|
| Draft beer | $5 | $6 |
| Glass of wine | $5 | $8 |
| Appetito cocktails | $7 | $11 |
| Grilled shishito peppers | $6 | $8 |
| Spicy meatballs | $8 | $12 |
| Margherita pizza | $10 | $15 |
| Italian Salami pizza | $13 | $16 |
The crispy fried chicken ($9 in 2019) and the garlic cheese bites aren’t on the current happy hour menu or the regular menu, so we’d count those as gone.
What we would do
We’d plan to walk in right at 3. That’s when our drinking afternoon usually starts anyway, it’s the earliest the discount exists, and being finished before any dinner rush is the whole idea. We don’t rent a car, and Appetito is on Ka’iulani Avenue in the middle of Waikiki, so this is a walk, not a ride.
We’d order the margherita and the meatballs again. Then we’d finally add the Moloka’i sweet potato gnocchi in gorgonzola sauce, which we haven’t tried. Beer would be Kona Big Wave, the same beer that is usually in our room fridge, and at $6 it’s a good excuse to sit down. The $8 glass of wine is fair for a wine bar. We just know what a bottle costs at Longs, so we’d stick mostly to beer. The cocktails lean sweet, and we skip those.
The dine-in rule is the part we’d plan around. Most nights our dinner is takeout eaten in the room, so a discount that only works at the table is a small disappointment. Then again, a wood-fired Neapolitan pie is best straight out of the oven, so this is one of the few places where we’d happily stay seated. If you’d rather take pizza back to your hotel, the online ordering button is there, at regular prices.
If you want to start earlier on a weekday, our Yard House guide covers a happy hour that begins at 2 and discounts the food rather than the beer. Fire Grill on Kuhio runs the same 3-6 window, with ribs as the deal. And if you were thinking of the other Italian pizza name in Waikiki, our Arancino di Mare page explains why we no longer plan around its happy hour.
Before you plan around this
- Prices and hours above are from the restaurant’s own pages, checked October 2026. The happy hour menu has already moved by an hour and by several dollars since 2019, so check the happy hour page the week you go.
- The site doesn’t say whether happy hour applies at every table or only certain seating, or whether reservations are taken for the happy hour window. If either matters, call.
- The regular menu says all pizzas can come on a gluten-free cauliflower crust for $6 more. The happy hour page doesn’t mention it, so ask before assuming it applies.
Details
- Appetito Craft Pizza & Wine Bar: 150 Ka’iulani Ave., Honolulu, HI 96815, first floor of the Outrigger Ohana East Hotel (as the restaurant’s site names it).
- Phone: 808-922-1150. Reservations: booking page, phone, or [email protected].
- Happy hour: 3:00-6:00 pm, dine-in only. Dinner 3:00-9:00 pm.
A $6 Kona draft and a pizza straight from a kiawe-wood oven, at the hour we’d be pouring a beer anyway, is a good reason to leave the room for a while.
