Fire Grill Waikiki, the grill on the ground floor of the Hilton Garden Inn on Kuhio Avenue, runs happy hour from 3 to 6 pm every day, and the Kirin draft is $4. We first knew it as TR Fire Grill, and so, it turns out, does part of its own website. When we set the current happy hour card next to the current dinner menu, one thing jumped out: the small plates come down only $2 to $4, while the baby back ribs come down $10 to $17. At this happy hour, the ribs are the deal.
Our afternoons start with a drink around the time most people are thinking about a late lunch, and we don’t rent a car. So “every day, 3 pm, on Kuhio” is a very good sentence to us.
The window, and the two names
The restaurant’s official site lists these hours, open seven days (checked September 2026):

Happy hour sits at the front of dinner service, so nothing closes at 6. The regular dinner menu simply keeps going until 9. The English hours block doesn’t label happy hour by day, but it sits among hours marked open seven days, and the Japanese-language paragraph on the same page says it outright: every day, 3 to 6 pm. The posted schedule also leaves a half hour between the end of lunch at 2:30 and the start of dinner at 3, so we would plan on 3 sharp rather than wander in at 2:45 expecting the $4 beer.
About the name: the site’s page title says Fire Grill, the web address is still trfiregrill.com, and the About paragraph on the same page still says TR Fire Grill. If a map search for one name comes up empty, try the other. The address doesn’t change: 2330 Kuhio Ave., first floor of the Hilton Garden Inn Waikiki Beach. Kuhio is the avenue that runs parallel to Kalakaua on the inland side, and it’s a flat walk from the middle of Waikiki.
What the happy hour card discounts, and by how much
The happy hour menu is a single short card. The drinks:

The food is where it gets interesting, because the restaurant also posts a dinner menu (the file is labeled June 2026) with the same dishes at regular prices. Side by side:

So the small plates get a trim, not a giveaway. The ribs are a different story: $17 off a full rack is about 30 percent, and it’s the biggest dollar gap on the card.
Two pieces of fine print come with that. The happy hour card puts an asterisk on the ribs: “This item cannot be combined with any other discounts.” And the dinner menu says its ribs come with french fries and coleslaw, while the happy hour card lists only rack sizes and prices. It doesn’t say whether the sides come along at $26 and $39, so we would ask when ordering rather than assume.
The site’s About section leads with those baby back ribs and with a smoked prime rib served under a glass dome. The domed prime rib isn’t on the happy hour card, but prime rib does show up there, inside the $10 tacos.
On the drink side, Kirin is the only beer on the card. The drink list the site links to is an older file, posted in February 2024, and it prices every draft at $8 — Kirin, plus Kona Big Wave, Kona Longboard, Maui Bikini Blonde and Maui Big Swell IPA, among others. If that list still holds, the happy hour Kirin is half off, and the local drafts aren’t discounted at all. The happy hour wines don’t name a label, so we can’t tell you whether they’re the same pours as the $10 to $13 glasses on that older list.
Why it matters on a car-free stay
Every day, a 3 pm start, on a street we walk anyway. That combination is the whole appeal.
Not every Waikiki happy hour runs on weekends. Yard House on Beach Walk ran weekdays only when we last checked, so a Saturday there is full price. Fire Grill’s site lists happy hour next to its seven-day hours with no weekday restriction, which makes it a weekend option, alongside ShoreFyre’s Koa Ave bar, the other daily 3-to-6 we’ve written up.
The shape of the discount is also different from those two. Yard House puts its weight on half-price food; ShoreFyre’s drinks carry most of it. Here the beer is cheap, and the one plate with a big discount is the one we would never make ourselves.
Our 2018 visit
We ate here in June 2018, when the name out front was TR Fire Grill and the sign by the door said “Enjoy Happy Hour All Day! 11am to 10pm.” It was an easy place to drop into without planning anything, which is about the best thing we can say about a happy hour.
We had draft beer at $5, shrimp tacos at $5, smokehouse chicken wings at $8, and a burger with fries at $12. The bill came to about $63 with tax. Those are 2018 prices, kept here as history, not as a guide.
A few things from that visit are worth holding up against today. The draft beer was $5 then; the happy hour Kirin is $4 now. We did not expect a Waikiki beer price to go down. The wings on today’s card are island fire wings at $10, against $8 for the smokehouse wings we had.
The last is the small print on that 2018 sign (you can read it in the photo above): happy hour was for bar patrons only, and happy hour at tables required ordering at least one entree. The current happy hour card says nothing about seating either way. The Japanese-language paragraph on the restaurant’s homepage says the happy hour crowd is busiest around the bar, so the bar is where we’d sit, and we’d ask before assuming the prices apply at a table.
What we would do
Walk over at 3, any day of the week, and sit at the bar. It settles the seating question before it comes up, and 3 pm is right on schedule for us.
Order the ribs, not a spread of small plates. Two Kirin drafts, a half rack, and the grilled asparagus come to $4 + $4 + $26 + $10 = $44 before tax and tip. The same order at dinner-menu prices, with the drafts at the $8 from that older drink list, would be $36 + $12 + $8 + $8 = $64. A rack of ribs is exactly the kind of food we don’t cook in our suite — smoke alarm, cleanup, effort — and the meat-heavy orders mostly come from one of us anyway. The asparagus is our nod to vegetables.
Skip the mai tai, the mimosa, and the margarita. We don’t drink cocktails or sweet drinks. That’s a taste thing, not a knock on the list. If you do drink them, the happy hour mai tai is $6 against $14 on that older drink list, which is a deep cut.
Leave the IPA for later. Maui Big Swell IPA is on that older drink list at the regular draft price, not on the happy hour card. Kirin with ribs is no hardship, and the IPA is already cold in our fridge back at the room.
Be done by 6. That’s when the prices go back to the dinner menu, and it’s about when we’d rather be back at our base at Hokulani Waikiki with the windows open.
If you’re driving, the restaurant’s site doesn’t say anything about parking. Call ahead; we don’t rent a car, so we have no tip to offer there.
