Here is the detail that decides the afternoon: ShoreFyre has two locations in Waikiki, and they do not run the same happy hour. The Koa Ave bar discounts drinks and bar food from 3 to 6 pm every day. The bigger open-air one inside International Market Place runs the same 3-to-6 window Monday through Friday. Same brand, same published price list, different calendar.
We fly to Waikiki twice a year, we do not rent a car, and our drinking starts early enough that a 3 pm happy hour is a normal part of the day rather than a warm-up for a night out. So the gap between “discounted every day” and “discounted on weekdays” is not trivia to us. It decides which door we walk through on a Saturday.
Two ShoreFyres, two different afternoons
Both addresses sit in central Waikiki, close enough that we would walk between them without thinking about it. Here is how the two differ, from the location pages, checked September 8, 2026.

The site describes the Koa Ave location as “Steps from Waikiki Beach — less than a 2 minute walk.” International Market Place is the one most visitors picture when they hear the name: the open-air Fyre Lanai inside the mall on Kalākaua Avenue, where the live music schedule lists a performer every night of the week, 5 to 8 pm on most days and 5 to 7 pm on Thursdays, with no cover charge.
That split produces a genuinely annoying weekend situation: on a Saturday afternoon, the ShoreFyre with the music has no happy hour, and the ShoreFyre with the happy hour has no music. There is no ShoreFyre door that gives you both on a weekend.
What the happy hour actually discounts
The happy hour page publishes one shared list for both locations. On the drink side:

And on the food side: ShoreFyre Fries $9.50, Fried Brussel Sprouts $10.50, Hibachi Chicken $12, Tropical Shrimp Ceviche $13, Popcorn Shrimp or Fresh Ahi $13.50, Hibachi Steak $13.50, Fresh Ahi Tuna Tataki $13.50, Coconut Shrimp $15.50, Mango Barbecue Pork Ribs $19, and a four-item Happy Hour Sampler at $40.
Now the part nobody writes down. How big is the discount? We tried to size it against the regular menus and could only do it honestly for one item. ShoreFyre Fries are $12 on the International Market Place menu and $11 at Koa Ave, so the $9.50 happy hour price is $2.50 off at one location and $1.50 off at the other. The tataki, the brussel sprouts and the ribs do not appear on the regular menus we could read, so we cannot tell you what they normally cost — and neither can the site.
The drinks look better. The regular bar menu lists “Rotating Draft Beer” at $9, and happy hour puts Kona Big Wave and Maui Big Swell on for $5. That is a $4 gap between two published numbers, though the menu never says Big Wave is one of the $9 rotating taps, so treat it as our arithmetic rather than a discount the restaurant advertises.
Either way, the shape of this happy hour is clear enough: the drinks carry it, and the food is a modest trim. That is the opposite of Yard House down at Waikiki Beach Walk, where appetizers and pizzas go half price and the draft beer only comes down $2. Two happy hours in the same walkable stretch of Waikiki, rewarding completely different orders.
The loco moco is not part of it
We have eaten here, at the International Market Place location, on a visit years ago. Our bill that afternoon came to $52.93 for drinks and food, and it included the signature 50/50 loco moco at $18.55, ahi tataki at $6, loaded cheese fries at $6, and a happy hour PBR at $3 — those are prices from that visit, not today’s. It was a good, unfussy afternoon: open air, breeze coming through, the kind of place you sit down at on the way past without making a plan of it.
Two things about that bill have not aged well.
The PBR is gone from the published happy hour list — the cheap end is now a $4-$5 can of Bikini Blonde or Tecate. And the loco moco went from $18.55 on that old bill to somewhere between $29 and $31 today, which is 56 to 67 percent more depending on which location and which menu you land on. As of September 8, 2026, the Signature 50/50 Loco Moco is $29 at Koa Ave on both the breakfast and the lunch-and-dinner menus, and $30 at breakfast or $31 at lunch and dinner at International Market Place.
More to the point: the loco moco is not on the happy hour list at all. If the plan is “loco moco and a cheap beer,” only half of that plan is discounted. You can absolutely order it during the window — the restaurant does not close at 3 pm and the regular menu keeps running — but you will pay the full $29 to $31 for it while your $5 draft sits next to it.
That is worth saying plainly because it is the thing we would have wanted to know. A happy hour is a window inside normal hours, not a different restaurant.
What we would do
On a weekday, we would go to International Market Place and arrive at 3. Two drafts and an order of ShoreFyre Fries is $5 + $5 + $9.50 = $19.50 before tax and tip, which is a cheap way to sit outdoors in the middle of Waikiki. The same three items off the regular menu at that location would be about $30 — $12 for the fries plus two beers at the $9 “Rotating Draft Beer” price, which again assumes Big Wave is one of the taps in the rotation. Arriving at the start of the window also means arriving before the dinner room fills.
If we wanted the music too, we would stay until 5. Happy hour ends at 6 and the music starts at 5, so on a weekday there is a one-hour overlap where the discount and the live set exist at the same time. That is the only hour we would deliberately wait around for, and it is comfortably before we would rather be back in the room anyway.
On a Saturday or Sunday, we would walk to Koa Ave instead and accept that there is no live music there. If the music is the whole point of the trip out, then go to International Market Place on the weekend and pay full price, knowingly. There is no cover charge, so the premium you are paying is just the difference on the drinks.
What we would not order: the $7 spirits headline, the mojito, the mai tai. Not a criticism of anyone who does — that is just not what we drink. We are beer people, and Big Wave is not an IPA, but at $5 in an open-air room we are not going to argue about style guidelines. If you want a happy hour built around a table and a steak instead, Ruth’s Chris runs one daily from 4 to 7, bar seating only.
Before you go
The single most important line on ShoreFyre’s own happy hour page is the fine print: “Specials may vary — ask your server for today’s full happy hour menu at either location.” That is the restaurant telling you the published list is a guide, not a contract. Sitting down and asking what today’s happy hour is takes five seconds and settles it.
