SERA is the restaurant and bar inside the Renaissance Honolulu Hotel & Spa on Kapiolani Boulevard, and its pau hana runs Monday through Friday, 3:00 to 6:00 pm, in the bar and lounge only. That is a three-hour window starting in the middle of the afternoon, which is exactly when we start thinking about the first beer of the day. We have not been yet. What follows is what the official pages and the pau hana menu say, plus the one question we would want answered before making the trip from Waikiki.
The pau hana hours, from the restaurant
SERA’s hours and contact page lays the day out like this (checked September 26, 2026):

A few things fall out of that table. Pau hana starts half an hour after lunch service ends and keeps going for an hour after dinner service opens at 5. The bar and lounge stay open well past 6, so the happy hour is a window inside normal hours, not a closing time. And it is weekdays only, so a Saturday arrival day doesn’t get it.
“Bar and lounge only” matters more than it sounds. It means the dining room tables are not part of the deal. For two people who would rather sit at a bar than wait for a table, that is fine. For a group of six, it could be a problem, and the pau hana menu also notes that parties of six or more get a 20% gratuity added.
The pau hana menu, with prices
The restaurant’s own menu page has a Pau Hana tab, and it opens a one-page pau hana menu (PDF) headed “served in the bar & lounge, mon-fri 3pm-6p.” We checked it on September 26, 2026, Hawaii time. The food side:

The file was uploaded in June 2026 (its web address says so), so we compared it with the Honolulu Star-Advertiser’s Quick Bites column from September 16, 2026, written by Cassidy Apo. Every price the column mentions (calamari, fries, flatbreads, wings, pork belly sliders) matches the PDF. Tax and tip go on top of all of these.
The same column mentions a $30 “power lunch” served daily from 11 am to 2:30 pm, with dishes like rigatoni Bolognese and a koji-marinated chuck eye steak. We don’t eat lunch, so that one is here for completeness only.
The drinks: $6 local draft, $8 house wine
This is where our interest either grows or fades. For us, a happy hour is worth leaving the room for when the drink is the point. Food discounts are nice, but they are the side.

A $6 local draft beer is the number we wanted. The menu doesn’t say which beers are pouring; it just says “please ask your server for selections.” Whether there is an IPA among them decides how excited we get. The $8 house wine is fine, but it is close to what a whole bottle costs us at Longs, so for us the beer is the draw.
Two things the PDF doesn’t tell you. It shows only the pau hana prices, not the regular ones, so we can’t say how big the discount is. And the bottom line reads “Promotions and discounts are not valid on this menu,” so don’t plan on stacking another discount on top.

What we’d do — and what we wouldn’t
Our normal afternoon has us drinking by 2 pm, usually in the room, sometimes at a weekday happy hour close by — Yard House on Waikiki Beach Walk is the one we build an afternoon around, because its window opens at 2. SERA’s 3 pm start is an hour later than our habit, but the three-hour length is the attractive part. Nobody is rushing you out at 5:30, and a second beer doesn’t feel like a race.
What we would do:
- Ask what’s on the $6 draft. If a local IPA is pouring, it goes on the list for a weekday afternoon.
- Go early in the window. A 3 pm arrival should mean the pick of the bar and lounge seats before dinner service starts at 5.
- Order wings and something fried. Wings are a standing favorite for one of us, and $8 fries next to a beer is hard for either of us to pass up. The pomegranate wings are the item we are most curious about, mostly because we can’t picture how sweet or how hot they are.
What we wouldn’t do is treat this like a Waikiki stop. The restaurant is outside Waikiki, and we don’t rent a car. Marriott’s dining page puts the hotel 0.5 miles from Ala Moana Center and 0.7 miles from Ward Village. For us, that means one of two routes: the paid Waikiki Trolley Pink Line to Ala Moana Center and then a half-mile walk, or Uber/Lyft door to door. After a couple of beers, the half-mile walk back to a trolley stop is exactly the kind of effort we try not to schedule, so we would probably ride both ways.
If you drive, the math is friendlier. SERA’s contact page says there is free three-hour valet for SERA guests, which happens to line up with the full pau hana window. Marriott lists the dress code as casual.

A three-hour weekday window that opens at 3 pm, a short ride from Waikiki, is enough to put SERA on our list. A $6 local draft next to $8 fries is the kind of math that gets us out of the room. The only thing left to find out is what’s on tap.
